Battle of the Books
I am now recruiting an army of strong readers for our annual Battle of the Books tournament. This year we will compete against SCMS and GMS in addition to middle schools in Fayette County. If you are in need of a reading challenge, please see Mrs. Mahone for more details. Click here to view this year’s battle titles.
Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books participants need to take their battle quiz during Peace on Tuesday, March 29 in order to earn tournament team status and extra credit for participation in this library program. See Mrs. Mahone if you have questions.

Please join me in celebrating Read Across America Day by becoming a walking advertisement for a favorite book! Costumes strongly encouraged!

Curious Forever Grant = 2 Royal Reading Rallies for 2010-2011!!!
I am thrilled to announce that our library was most recently named as a “Curious Forever” grant recipient from the Scott County Education and Community Foundation! These funds will enable me to host two “Royal Reading Rallies” for the 2010-2011 school year. Although I will explain this programming opportunity in detail during the October library rotation, you can look forward to an afternoon of food, fun, and book discussions in the month of December. Unlike our March “Reading Rally” which will feature discussions of the 2011 Kentucky Bluegrass Award nominees, our winter “Reading Rally” will feature discussions of the following titles: The Beef Princess of Practical County, Crocodile Tears, Eighth Grade Bites, Fang, Heist Society, Incarceron, Is It Night or Day?, Maze Runner, Mockingbird, Mockingjay, Out of My Mind, The Red Pyramid, Sabotaged, Sleepaway Girls, and This World We Live In.
Multiple copies of all of these books have been ordered and will soon be arriving to our library. Several of the titles have even been ordered in the form of playaways to assist those of you with busy schedules. Think about which book you would like to sign up for once these books become available. Finally, vote on which day of the week would work the best for your schedule in terms of staying after school for the “Reading Rally” during the month of December. Thank you in advance for your input!
